PUCCINIS “MADAMA BUTTERFLY” AT THE HAMBURGER STAATSOPER

 

 

Lianna Haroutounian will play the starring role of “Madame Butterfly” at Staatsoper Hamburg. This popular and exciting opera by Giacomo Puccini will be on stage from June 10 to 28 at the Hamburger Coliseum with Johannes Fritzsch, musical director, and accompanied by an excellent cast including Cristina Damian (Suzuki), Narea Son (Kate Pinkerton), Marcelo Puente (Pinkerton) and Alexey Bogdanchikov ( Sharpless). The direction of scene will be assumed by the French Vincent Boussard. Among the recent performances of the Armenian soprano are “Madama Butterfly” at the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam and at the San Francisco Opera, “Adriana Lecouvreur” at La Monnaie in Brussels, “Simon Boccanegra” at the Metropolitan Opera, “Il Trovatore” at the Royal Opera House, “La bohème” at the Sydney Opera House and “Don Carlo” at the Staatsoper Berlin. And among his next commitments are “Madame Butterfly” at the Seattle Opera, “Aida” in the next season of the Teatro Real in Madrid and “Tosca” at the Palau de Les Arts.
